Can My Child Get the Chickenpox Vaccine on the NHS?

The NHS introduced chickenpox vaccination into the routine childhood programme in England in January 2026.
  • Born on or after 1 January 2020: your child may be eligible through the NHS depending on age and vaccination history.
  • Born before 1 January 2020: chickenpox vaccination is not routinely included in the NHS childhood programme, although some people may qualify in specific medical or household circumstances.
